She sat on her small porch in her standard attire, shorts, blouse, and sandals, with her cat beside her.Being older, waiting for the mail was her most urgent business. I had to start up the opposite side of the street and go back down on her side until I could get to her home, second from the corner. I found her still waiting, neither of us knowing this would be a different day for the both of us. As I approached her she began telling me about her cat having a few lumps under its skin, proceeding to let me know that by rubbing on vitamin E, the lumps were disappearing. I told her I was happy the cat was getting better, but asked her what she had done to her ankle. She said I sprained it getting up and down off a stool. It was swollen quiet a bit.
I asked her if I could pray for her, and she said yes, that would be nice. I placed a couple of fingers gently on her ankle. After praying for it in the name of Jesus, I told her everything would be alright. The next day at work on my route everything was going well until I got to her street and again stopped to see how she was doing. She was so happy because when she got up that morning the swelling was gone from her ankle. Praise the Lord! My God cares about every part of our lives, large or small. Give God a chance to work in your life. Call upon His name. He is always there.
Sunday morning as I waited in the foyer my wife, I overheard a person talking about this young couple. They had been married for a few years and were hoping to have a child and yet had none. I took that need to heart and began to pray to the Lord that He would give them the desire of their heart. A few weeks went by and hearing no more about this young couple, I continued to pray by faith, believing God. One Sunday morning, walking around in back of the sanctuary, a strong anointing rose up inside of me for this couple. I knew I was to put a question to the husband, hoping and praying he would give the right answer.
As God would have it, the husband walked right in front of me, “Excuse me, can I ask you a question?” He said sure, I asked him, “If you could have anything in this world, what would you desire more than anything?” He said a baby.” “You have said the right word, you shall have a child as you have spoken.” I have never spoken like that to a person in my life. Concern about what I had just said never entered my mind because I knew God was working through His Holy Spirit. Well, that young couple moved out of state shortly after that, and I never saw them again for several months.
One morning walking into the foyer, a lady in our church came up to me smiling and said so and so has come to visit and wants to see you. I walked into the sanctuary to find them, and turning to look around, there she stood in front of me. “It’s good to see you.” She blurts out with a big smile, “I’m pregnant!” Well I praised God, for there is no other that can give such a miracle but our God. I still give God the praise, and once in a while, looking at Facebook, I now see they have two children. All I can say is, trust God and lean not on our own understanding. Be Blessed and Remain a Blessing.
I remember a Saturday night in yet another new church that God had placed my wife and me. I had gone alone to church, and on arrival I made my way to the sanctuary where there were about fifteen people gathered. Pastor Rod, as always, opened our prayer time with praise and thanksgiving. He would sometimes call on different people to pray. The Holy Spirit was nudging me in my mind, body and hands. In my mind I kept thinking, I’ve got to lay hands on people. I was overwhelmed by this, knowing pastor would on me to pray, as led by the Spirit of God. As soon a he called on me, I was up and moving, just gently touching each person, praying for their needs or healing. As I passed by one young mother, I touched her neck and just whispered be healed. I never knew that she had a condition in that same area, but God knew and He did touch her. It wasn’t me who healed her, but it was all fifteen of us in agreement with God. Our prayers and touching her neck was what God used as a point of contact for Him to do His work. I have looked back over many years thinking about many other events that have transpired through God’s mercy. I have to give Him thanks, and honor my God who made it all possible. It’s not about me or you or anyone else. No one has to know who we are, just Christ alone needs to be seen. Each time He allows me to see Him working in a life I am humbled that He would allow me or any of us to take part in His great work. Lift Him high and He will draw all men to Himself. I thank each of you for letting me be a part of your lives these last three years, and thank you WordPress for giving a platform to work from. Be Blessed and Remain a Blessing
If I don’t turn my head as time goes by, I’d probably get whip lash, events are changing so fast. We built a new church in the town we live in, actually it’s only a half mile from our home. Two portable buildings were placed on the church property, one behind the church and one across the street. I had a class of about twenty in one building, and teaching a class on prayer. Actually there was more praying going on than teaching. One Sunday morning in class we passed the plate for an offering. As it came back up front to me, I did something I had never done before or since. I believe and hoped that I was prompted by the Holy Spirit. I took the plate and said, “We need to take a better offering. If you don’t have any money, put something else in . Always give God something to work with, and see what He can do with a little bit.”
A couple of weeks later, one young man in class spoke up to testify about what God did. “Gene, when you sent the plate back around and it came to me, all I had was a ball point pen. I put that in because I was out of work and the very next week I got a job.” Oh! We had a great time of giving thanks to God. Sometimes we all may not have a lot to give, but we need to give it with a purpose and a prayer. Little is much when placed in the master’s hands, and praise is always in season. You are loved. Now go out and be a blessing.
The new church that we were now in, was only about a year old, meeting over a machine shop. One Sunday evening while sitting in the service during a time of prayer, the Lord showed me in my spirit a problem a person was having in their life. I mentioned it to my new pastor and asked what I should do. He told me to just keep it to my heart and pray for them. That was sound advice, as I was a new christian, and if I had gone to this person I could have made matters worse. I’ve kept that advice always in my heart and try to teach it to others when I can. To gain a person’s trust, they need the confidence that what they share with me will not be told to anyone else. I’ve endeavored to keep that promise. That alone will draw people to you knowing their request will not go beyond you. Trust should always be one of the most important things among God’s people.
Being a vessel of God’s, we are to build a person up, and never by word or deed, destroy them. The love of God is a precious gift. Give it away freely and be the blessing He is shaping us to be.
One Sunday my wife and I visited a sister church and after hearing their guest preacher, I gave my life to Christ. Within me, changes were happening and I realized I needed more than what I was getting at the church I was attending. We went searching for a church and a pastor that would teach me more than what I now had. Each time you grow and there is change, physically or spiritually, and there is pain in transition. It hurt to leave our church, but it took leaving to get to the next level in our walk with Christ.
Being with these new people, we were daily being sharpened and refined by the word and the great prayer meetings. It’s like taking a real hot shower and coming out all clean and refreshed, a renewing of the spirit. Even though there was pain in leaving the old, there is a healing of the heart and an excitement in looking forward to what God is going to do next. Always trust God in all things, for He knows where He wants to take us on each path and road in this journey. Be Blessed and Remain a Blessing
